A SYNOD’S PROBLEM. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. At a meeting of the Presbyterian Synod the convenor; of the Committee on Trust Funds reported that the oommittee had not seen its way to formulate any deta'led scheme for making trust funds available throughout New Zealand. The legal and other difficulties were found to be so serious that it was felt that unless the Synod first of all gave an authoritative mandate in favor of such a proposal, it would be time wasted to thresh out the details of any suggestion. In the event, therefore, of tho Synod not being prepared to give saoh a mandate, |t is suggested that the oommittee be discharged. In view, however, of possible developments in otbr r directions, the committee recommend the appointment of a small oommittee to make inquiries, and to watoh over the interests of the Synod in connection with trust funds.
