The Government has taken over on lease the premises of the Westport Coal Company at Wellington as a going concern, that is, the Stats becomes owner of the osal yards, working plant, and distributing equipment, and enters into business as a retailer of State-mined ooal, The Westport Company in Wellington last year turned over about 15,000 tons of ooal, and has a monthly turnover of about 60 tons of firewood, It employs on an average about 12 men, and owns eight or nine horses and cans. I* is announced that Ooal will be delivered for oash at 28s per lOD, 14s 6d per half-ton, 7s 6d per quarter ton, and is 6J per cwt.
