BISHOPS’ PROTEST.
WARNING OF THE TIMES.

Dr. Oasarielii, Roman Oathol'o Bishop of Salford, Manchester, deolares that Mr Birrell’s Education Bill is without a redeeming faatnre. It compels Catholics to support a system wbioh they are unablo to use and of which they do not approve. It means, praotioally, the confiscation of Roman Catholic sohools.

Thirty-two of the bishops of England and Wales, assembled at Lambeth Palace, resolved that the Education Bill as it Stands mast unhesitatingly be opposed. The Times states that Mr VV. Runoiman,. MP. for Dewsbury, speaking at Newcastle, warned the Arcbbiehop of Canterbury that if he attempted to use the House of Lords as in 1902, with the hope of wrecking the wishes of the House of Commons, it would make the disestablishment of the Church of England inevitable and shake the House of Lords to its oundationa,
