VACCINATION.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night.
In the Police Couit the Registrar of Births summoned a number of parents to show oause why their ohildren should not be vaccinated. George George, diccotor teobnioal education, o :e of tho defendants, said he conscientiously fi.lieved vacoiDation would injure his child’s health. He felt so strobgly tn the subject, that he would suffer the extiema penalty of the Jaw rather than allow bis oh'lJren to, be yaoopated.

Mr Mays, solicitor, asked if the Magistrate proposed to extend tbe time when consoiett ous ohj a ction-aball apply from four moDtbs to fourteen years. Tho Magistrate said whatever was the effect of bis deomien he would not take the responsibility of ordering this child to be vaccinated when the parent swore he honestly believed vaccination would be injurious to his ohild’s health. Mr Mays, for tbe Heulsh Department, said the Department would not consent to extend the period of exemption. Eight cases were similarly dealt with, the Magistrate reiusiog to make any orders.
