felt sure that one and all wished their manager bon voyage, and a safe riturn. (Applause) Mr A. H. Hodge, chief engineer, paid a high tribute to Mr Dewing. Tho intrinsic value of ihe presentation did not express their sentiments. They all joined in wiihing Mr Dewiog " Godspeed. Mr Hogg also spoke in complimentary terms of Mr Dewing’s generosity and the kindnesses they had received at bis hands. Mr Tidswell then badded Mr Dewing a handsome travelling bag, a case of pipes, a pair of brushes, and valuable Kaiapoi rug.

In reluming thanks Mr Dewing, who was greeted with app'ause, said ho had been told half an hour ago that he was " wanted ” in the library. He did not understand why, and bad been very agreeably surprised. It was eight years since bo bad visitod the Home Count y.
