TOO LITTLE CARE IN GIVING
CREDIT.

There were a few more bankruptcies in Wellington last year than in the previous year, but the cflbhl asaigoee does not think this represents aDy general unsoundness in trade. They are mostly individual instances of reckless or unbusinesslike trading which will happen in the most prosperous times. Credit, he says, is given to a number of people by the storekeepers, and when the mooey is pressed for they prove to be almost entirely bad debts. There is too little care exercised in giving oredit, This and bad book keeping, or no book-keeping at al l , is at the bottom of many bankruptcies.
