(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night,

It is reported that Lieutenant-Colonel Webb, effioer commanding Wellington volunteer distriot, is to beocme Undersecretary for Defenoe, vice Colonel Portet, appointed President of tho East Coast Maori Counoil, It is further stated that he will be succeeded in his present position by Lieutenant-Colonel Davies, of Auckland ; that Lieutenant Colonel Wolfe, of Nelson, will succeed Lieutenant Colonel Davies in charge of the Auckland distriot; and that Major Joyoe, adjutant to Lieu-tenant-Colonel Webb, will be promoted to the command of the Nelson distriot, and be succeeded by Lieutenant Mabin, of Wellington.
