CANDIDATES FOR NAVY AND MARINES.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night.

Now Zealand has this year the privilege of nominating two candidates for commissions in the Royal Navy and Marines. Applications for nominations must bo made to the Under Seoretary for Defence. The regulations are gazetted this week. Tbe Colonial Seoretary ia offering prizes for tbe best design for a coat of arms for the ooloDy of New Zealand. Judge Haselden has been appointed to succeed Judge Ward on his distriot oironit.
