Mr Caulfield, Assistant Immigration Polynesian Inspector, states, in evidence before the Colored L\bor Commission, that it would bo inhuman in some oases to land natives on their own islands, as they bad lost touch with their own people. Some islanders were indifferent regarding dsportstioD, others were keenly resentful. He had learned authentically that Tanna boys were determined if depnrted to murder every wbita man on TanDO Island. He was confident some would have to bo forcibly deported.
