STEALING CARGO
(Per Press Asiooiation.) Auckland, last night In response to Iho ogents' urgent representations regarding cargo broaching, four detectives recently secreted themselves in the hold of the steamer Kuraara daring discharging. Charles Davidson, a wharf laborer, was seen to break open a case, and was arrested. Twenty-one pairs of socks and two pairs of slippers were found under his coat. He was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment to-day for theft.
