Encounter, and one sham is at present in a critical oondin, 'lt appears that a party of blue (kets were engaged in hauling up a tart by means of a capstan whioh is uated in the dookyard. One of the cap* tu’s poles snapped and struok" an able tman named Swanton on the back of s head, inflioting serious injuries. His ad was out open, and he was picked up consoious. Another seaman named tiley was struck across tbs stomach by e pole, but his injuries are not serious, ranton was still unconscious this afteron, and his condition is regarded as dons.
