FOOTBALL.
At the annual mooting of Kaiti-Oity F.O. tbo committoo presontod the following repoit, which was adoptod :—“ In presenting the annual report and" bolanco-shet t for tho season of 1905, your o-mmiitto do fO with groat pleasure, and feel suro that mombors will bo gratlfiod at the sound final ccs of tho dub. Last year wo staitod with a credit balance of 13 14s lOd, and after reoiiviog donations from vioo-prosi-donts and subscriptions from inombors, aleo a handsome profit from tbo first scoial held by the Club, the amount available for expenditure was ,£6l Is lOd. Out of this amount £57 Is 6d was spent in the management of tho affairs of the Club, and in defraying part of the expenses of the team that journeyed to Napior last Eustor to play the annual match with the Soinde Club. This loaves a sum of £4 Os
4d to oarry forward to the present eeason.
which, wo ore sure, ail will agreo is very satisfactory indeed. Thanks are specially duo to Messrs Ed. Harris, W. B. Common, H. E. Maudp, R. and tbo late Futher Mulvibill (vico-preeidoDte) for donations towards the funds of the Club, and for their assistance during tbo season, Last Easter a Kaiti-City team journeyed to Napier, for tho purpose of playing what is now likely to be an annuel match with
tho Scinde Club. Tho game was played i at Hastings, and after a thoroughly on- | joyable and oven contest, resulted iu a draw, both Bides scoring 11 points oaoh. 1 All the players enjoyed themselves immenaely, and speak in high praise of the hospitality showered upon ihem by the Soindcites and others whilst in Napior. After aoting as runners-up in tho championship for throe years in suooesssion, Kaiti-City eoniors at last broke the spell of bad luok wbioh bad followed them. With a oouple of rounds to go, West Ead held a substantial lead of four points, whioh meant that Haiti City had to beat them three times in succession to wia. Aided by tfce solid training which members indulged in at this stage, they were rewarded by accomplishing tbe feat successfully, thus securing an overdue and popular win. Tbe seoond fiiteeu a'so performed most or.ditably, but had to strike their odors to West End at tbo finish, although tbe difference in points brtwren tbe two loams was very, small; in faot, tbe oonoluding matoh ending in a draw, which gave West End the ohampionship. At the last annual meeting, Messrs W. Johnston and H. M. Puflett offered a trophy each for competition amongst the second fifteen, for the host forward and back lespeotivoly. The committee were appointol to decide the winners, and ba’e allotted Mr Johnston’s prize to J. Willock (forward) and Mr Puflett's to Luttrell (back). Tbo Kaiti-City Club were represented in the two matches played against Hawke’s Bay lash season by W. Hay, Sehrafft, Nolan, Delamere, 0. Sharp, Freer, G. LaydoD, J. Martin, and Allbd, and to them your committee offer their congratulations. It is with regret that wo have to reoord tbe death of one of our vice-presidents, tfce Rev. T. Mulvibill. By his demise tbo olub has lost a most generous and faithful officer, who always took a keen interest in the doings of the club. The sooial bold at the oommencemeDt of the srasoD was one of tho most enjoyable gatherings of tho year, and, as beforo mentioned, proved a groat success. Your committee wish to place on reocrl tbe va'uable services rendered by tbe lad'ei of tbe district in providing a most dileotable supper, and also to Mr MaboDey for b : s assistance and liberality in tbe same object. Ie has been suggested by many tb&t tbe sooial should be an annual one, and it remains for the members to decide to-night whether they should hold one this year. Wo are sure the ladies would again do all in their power to promote tbe gathering and give their assisiance Another matter to be gone into to night is tho Soinde match at Easter. Your eecro tary has received word that a team will play Kaiti-City at Gisborne on Easter Saturday, and we would suggest that a reoeption and enteitainmeut committee be appointed to make tbe neoessary arrangements for their stay whilst in Gisborne. Owing to the uncertainty as to whether the boundaries will be altered or not this srason, your committee think it would be advisable not to elect officers this evening, and the meeting oould be adjourned till after the Rugby Union meeting, when the matter will probably be finally decided, During last season one of our most prominent members, H E. Bright, was united in the bonds of matrimony, and members of tbe club showed their appreciation of bis sterling efforts in promoting tbe welfare of tbe Blue and Blacks, by presenting him with a handsome clook, suitably inscribed. Hearty congratulations are extended. In oonolusion, your oommittee desire to express their thanks to W. Johnston and H. M- Puflett for trophies presented ; to J. J. Martin, oaptain, for the energetic manner in wbioh be labored both on and off the field for tbe success of tbe olub; and to one and all for tbe many kindnesses bestowed during the season. We trust that the Kaiti-City district boundary will .not be altered, and that tbe oombined districts will bo found this season standing solidly together defending the banner whioh they won last year.”
