STRONG DEMAND FOR RIVER SECTIONS.
There was a very large attendance at His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday, when Messrs Williams and Kettle submitted to auction a number of town and suburban properties. Mr A. F. Kennedy supervised the sale, Mr G. K. Wyilie officiating as auctioneer. Chief interest centred in the disposal of some of the remaining sections in the estate of the late Mr E. F. Harris. Bidding for these lots was spirited throughout, and very satisfactory prices were realised, amounting in several oasis to nearly double the reserve. Section 1, corner of Harris street and Heta road, Ir 08p, was sold to Mr F. Oatridge for £126 ' Seotion 2, lr 08p, Me Oatridge, £125. Section 3, ir 08p, Captain Hawke, £125. Section 4, lr 08p, Mr PalSiret, £125. Seotion 5,3 r 23 perobes, elicited keen oompetitioD, and before being knocked down caused quite a little excitement amongst those present. Starting at £350, the prioe Bmartly advanced to £450, and thence to £SOO, where bidders were inclined to hang a little. The auctioneer was almost on several occasions on the verge of knocking the seotion,down when another bid was forthcoming, and in this way the price advauoed to’ £6OO. Afterthat figure had been reached bidding became much more brisk, being confined to two local-business man.’ The section was eventually purchased for £725 by Mr W. Green, who is .10-be complimented, upon having scoured- a really excellent residential site. Seotion 1 of 12, 2r, Mr H. Kane, £175. Beetion 2 oi 12, 2r, Mr Gillingham, £l9O. ' Section 11, 1 aero. Mr Kane, £275. Section 14, lac 3e 23p, Mr Kane, £650 (river froDtage). . Eight aores, situated on Wamoi road and Tyodalo road, formerly MrT. Steele’s property, were then offered, but W9ro all passed. The sections in tho Paha Estate, To Karaka, wore thon submitted, and sold as Action 45, 15ao 2r, Mr 0. White, £2O an aero. _ ~ Section 41, 27a0 2r, Mr H. G. Bennett, £l6 10*. Seotion 36, 6.0 lr, Mrs Ngakete, £l9 15s. Section 29,15a0 2r, Mr 0. Nsenao, £2l

Sections 2,3, 4,5, and 6 wero put up together, comprising 77 aores, and were passed at £lO per acre. Ten acres of Te Hapara block (10 acres with 4 roomed cottage) were passed at jg4oo, and Mr W. T. Raymond’s house and 3 acres, Stanley road, at £BOO. The Aberdeen road sections fronting the brewery were passed in at £SO to I £55. 1 . The remaining lota ofiered were passed,
