FATAL ACCIDENT-
(Per'Press Association.) Auckland, last night. At the inquest in connection with the’ death of Thomas Gilbert Boyd, ■ who fell from a ladder while repairing overhead tramway wires, Dr Liodley said there were indications of a fraotured skull. He could find no marks of reoent burning from an eleotcioal shook, excepting a slight one on the left wrist. Dr Blair, resident pbysioian at tho hospital, said that the cause of death was fracture of the base of the skull. He bad made a minute examination for electrical j, burns, but fouod no reoent marks on the k°Thomaa McGuire, driver of the Tramf way Company’s emergenoy waggon, said the deceased, Boyd, was not wearing . gloves, and had aooidentally pot his right I band on the trolly wire. Immediately be L ahoutod, “ It's got me,” turned right ' round, and fell to the ground, a distance of 20 feet. Cavy, Tramway Company s engineer, said that deceased had been engaged in overhead repairing for a year, and was ordinarily a careful maD. Infinite instructions were given that .the [ jj ne wires should not be handled without the use of rubber gloves, wbioh were supolied to " emergency men," suoh as deceaseds If gloves were reported defective a new pair would be at once supplied, There had been no previous aooident of the kind on the system.
