A. N. NIOHOLSON’S ESTATE.
The following statement has been handed in by A. N. Nicholson, of To Karaka, a iaboror, bankrupt:—"l arrivod in this district about two voars ago from Palmorston North, and started work as a onrpontor, receiving about 10s a day for every day I worked, I was not in constant employment for first year. About last April I built a house for Mr W. D. S. Maodonnld for £lB2, and after paying for labor, eto., made a profit of about £BS. Since then I have had odd jobs of short duration. In June, .after I finished Macdonald’s oontraot, I met with au aooideni to my knop, and I wob laid up for two months. When I got well I agreed with Mr Campbell to purchase bis goodwill I in a lease of 50 aores, near Karake, for £7O. Ia order to pay £35 oash I borrowed this sum from Jas. Jones, giviDg him the security mentioned. I gave a promissory note for the balance to Campbell for retaining the titio until this note was paid, I cultivated about 14 acres, and sowed maize, whioh I estimated would be of the value of £2OO, but lately the frost destroyed the whole. I had to file owing to pressure of oroditors. 1 have a wife and four ohildren, the eldest being eight years.”
A deficiency of £lB5 6s 5d is showD. The assets total £212 10s sd, including secured debts £73 15s, and unsecured £139 5s sd. The scoured creditors are: James Jones, farmer, Ormond, seourily £35, debt £35 ; W. Campbell, Poututu, seourity £7O, debt £35. Obrisp and Sou, seourity £l4, debt £8 15s. Surplus to contra £45 ss. Unseoured creditors arc: Common, Shelton and Co. £8 10s, A. Parnell and Co. £2 16s, Jas. Erskine £4, Mackrell and Colley £6, M. Colebrcok £26 17s 53, E. Evinson £3O. F. King £6, Bsll and Watson £24, Jas, MoEwen (Gore) £l2, W. S. Collins £4, F. North £3 12s, F. A. Foote £4, J. Noroross £3, A. M. Lewis £5.
