By telegraph’, Preea Asa’p, Copyright Received 12 21 a.m., March 24. Bydney, March 23. The Sydney Thousand bioycle race resulted : Arnst (New Zealand) ... 1 Rutt 2 Payne 3 Received 1.9 a.m„ March 24. The weather was fine and the ground in good condition Thirty-five thousand spootators were present. Arnst started off the 75 yards and Payne from the 90 yards. There were eleven starters.

The back-markers were Rutt and Meyer, of Germany, and Clark, of Victoria, The Germans made tbe pace terrific. They overhauled tbe front bunch when a lap and a quarter had been negotiated. From thence to the last lap there was a groat struggle, Rutt gradually improving his position. Arnst led inta the last lap, and keeping up a splendid sprint throughout, beat Rutt, who ran into second place from the members’ etind home, by threeparts of a length, amidßt tremendous enthus’asm.

Tbe cheering lasted several minutes, and the winner was carried shoulder high. Tbe raoe was the fiuest ever witnessed on the ground. The time was 1 54 3 5, the race being run against a stiff breeze.
