(Per Press Asiooiation.) Wellington, last night,

Walter Jennings, a letter oarrier at the General Post Office, was oommiltsd for trial to-day on a obarge of abstracting money from a letter entrusted to him for delivery, Tbe prisoner had made a statement to the police admitting the offence. ' Frances Waddell wob before the Police Court to-day charged with assaulting Samuel Gilmer, with intent to commit orime. The evidence showed that duiieg prisoner's struggle with Mr Gilmer, reported on Friday, he had used threatening language, and after his arrest he had Gilmer “ set," to intended to “do ” for him. Waddell was committed for trial. He offered to plead guilty to common assault, but would not admit the graver charge.
