(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Robert James Dailley called at the police- station on Saturday night and ttstrd that be had attempted to commit suicide by cutting his hand with a pocket knife. He was brought before the Court to-day and remanded for a week.
A man named Christopher Whelan ap» peered before the Magistrate to-day, charged with attempting to burn down Si. Joseph’s Church, Buckle street. A mao' alleged to be accused, was seen to pull of a board of the church buildiog and insert lighted inflammable matter. He was re» manded for a weik. Two previoua attempts were made during the post few days to burn down Ca'holic Church property.
