The match Melbourne C.O. v. Otago was continued to-day in beautiful weather and before a large attendance.
The visitors continued tbeir first innings, and tbauks to bad catching of tho local men took the total to 273. Armstrong played well for 60, but was twice missed. Mailer, who was a long time at the wickets for 69, also gave two obanoee. Henty was very aggressive, as also was Butler after a first few overs. The ground fielding of the local men was fair, bat the catching was deplorable. Requiring 143 runs to save a one inning’s defeat, the local men lost Baker, the top scorer in the first innings, who was thrown out. They made 36 without further loss. WANDERERS V. UNITED.
The above teams met on Victoria Domain on Saturday, the game ending in a draw. Wanderers batted first, and compiled the creditable score of 136, of which total McConnell and Wynyard each made 42. McConnell was very aggressive, being particularly severe on Gardiner. He hit 20 (two 6’s and two 4’s) in four conscouUvß balls from that bowler. McOoll (17) and Sheridan (15) also batted well. United made 90 for the loss of six wicket?, the principal run-getters being Hallamore (22), Harker (18, not out), Sheridan (14), and Gardiner (13). Harker played particularly nice crioket.
