ST. PATRICK'S SPORTS.

A MOST SUCCESSFUL GATHERING

Favored with fine weather, there was a large attendance at the Park grounds yesterday, and the proceedings throughout were of a most successful character. Excellent arrangements had been mado by the committee) headed by the energetic secretaries, Messrs J. H. Martin and Ed. Williams, and the following members of the oommittee also added considerably to the day’s enjoyment: Mesirs W. Howard, 0, F. Lewis, G. Wildish, W. Fraser, J, Nisbeit, W. Webb, and F. Martin. The amusement of the children was undor the capable management of Mr P. Maher, and needless to add nothing was lacking oo that score. The City Band was present on the green, and discoutsed an excellent programme of music. A merry go-round also added much to the pleasure of the juveniles. The Revs, Fathers Dufiy and Lane were present during the afternoon, and did muoh towards making the meeting a sneoess. General regret was expressed at the absence of the Rev. Father Mulvihill- An excellent lnnoheon was provided by Mr J. Erskine, who was unremitting in his efiorts to make the gathering a successA word of praise was due to Mr G. F. In the enclosure during the afiemoon some very interesting dancing competitions were carried on. chief of which were the Irish Jig, the Highland Fling, the Sii'ors’ Hornpipe and the Sword Banco.
