POLO TOURNAMENT.
.(Per Press Association,
Christcburob, last night. The Polo Association's tournatnont was continued in drizzling rain and on sloppy ground. Chriatohuroh A (handicap 12) brat Wellington B (handicap 17) by 22 goals to 19.
In the handicap cup competition Christchurch combination and formation were very fine. Hawke’s Bay (handicap four) beat Manawatu by 9 goals to 6 After a splendid display on both sides in the fifth spell, when the scores were a'most equal, the Manawatu team, playing with perfect combination, made a most brilliant succession of passes, but their effort was fruitless, the only behind resultmg, which confirmed the spectator's impression that Manawalu’s fortune was completely absent.
Walter Strang missed another good chance. After doing some most exciting gallop'ng and hittiDg the players who earned most distinction for their respective sides were J. Strang for Manawatu, and J. D. Ormond for Hawke’s Bay. The combination hitting and riding off of both teams made a display of skill and horsemanship Dot readily to be forgotten. At the annual arreting of the Association in the evening it was decided to hold the next tournament at Hastings.
