CHURCH EXTENSION.

A REMINDER FROM MR PARRY.

(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir,—l have naturally been interested in the reports and letters recently appearing in your columns with referenoe to the above, and at this particular juncture I desire to interpose a word or two. If there is any pressing and legitimate necessity {or extension in connection with the Anglican Churob, I heartily say, " All Hail,” as I would fo the prosperity of any other denomination, for, God knows, there ie great room for an extension of all the I churches in' this towD. Apart, however, from the controversial tone of the letters referred to, I would most respectfully remind the writers and the general publio that the Baptist Church is now appearing on the scene, the edifioe itself—wbioh will bo both handsomo and commcdiousbeing now in bourse of erection, Owing to the muoificecce of one of our oitizsns, and the contributory help of others', we are enabled to make this start, and as I not : ced that your correspondent of Monday last referred to a donation "to church extension as being somewbaf of an ordinary possibility, 1 respectfully assure him that all suoh donations, including, of oourse, the smallest amounts, will be gretsfully received by the Baptist Gburoh, which is destined, I hope and believe, to beoome an important faotor in the future of Gisborne. VVe want all oitizens to eaoh put a few planks in the building, and I trust that this intimation will at once meet with a general and generous response, Contributions forwarded or handed to Captain Gumming or other officers or members of the Baptist Church or myeelf will be thankfully acknowledged—l am, gg] e ‘ C " D, PARRY, U Pact p
