With fine weather it is believed that the sports will in every way be a great suooess. The que;tion of tho more speedy oom pletion of the new Motu-Opotiki road was urged by Mr J. W. Bright at the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday. Mr Bright pointed out that the shortening of the road in question meant a great thing for Gisborne, to which plaoe the Opotiki people looked as a market for their stock. It was decided to commuoioate with the Beoretary of the Opotiki Agricultural Society, so that an united effort might be made in regard to the pushing on of the road. Councillors Whinray, Lysnar, Webb, Wall, and Bright and Mr R. Johnston attended a conference in connection with the proposed isolation ward site. It was decided to recommend the Charitable Aid Board <o purchase If to 2 aores owned by Arobdeaoon Williams. The Gisborne visitors were most hospitably entertained by the president of the sooiety, Mr Butler, and the Opotiki Raoing Club. The whole of the judging at the show was done by the Gisborne men, who speak highly of the display of horses and the grain and produoe exhibition. The sheep and oattle classes were not so good. On tho night of the show the Gisborne visitors were entertained at a social, whioh was largely attended. The Rev. J. R. Flynn Anderson, obaplain of H.M. forces, pays a high oompliment to tho loosl oadets.
