At a meeting of the Wellington Scenting Committee to-day, the question of instituting fire alarm bells in hotels was discussed, and Inspector ELison was iustrueted to report on tho subject. Nelson, last night. At the Licensing Court to-day, the Bench oalied upon the owners of Trafalgar, Golden Fleeop, and Central (late Ooaoh and Horses) Hotels to Bubmit plana and specifications of new buildings by the next quarterly meeting. These places are very old and out of date. The owners of several other city hotels were called on to submit plaus of private entrances by next meeting, the police calling attention to the urgent need of these.

The nomination for the Licensing Committees for Napier and Hawke’d Bay has resulted iu the return of the old committee, Mess s A. L. D. Fraser, M.H.B, W. 0. Maddison, T. Howard, C. A. Fitzroy, 0. L. Mackorsey, for Hawko's Bay, and of Messrs G. A.Maodonald, F. W. Holder, H.Williams, 0. D. Kencoly, and J. J. Niven for Napiar. Both committees are of moderate viows. The no-iioense party did not put forward any candidates in eitbor district. Too committees were elected unopposed. Christohnrch, last night. There will be no election for Kaiapoi Licensing Committoe, only tho requisite number having been nomiaatsd. The Committee's views are sa’d to be moderate.

Six moderates, two independents, and four straight out prohibitionists have been nominated for the Licensing Committee here,'
