DECLARED INSANE,
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, Saturday. Lionel Terry, who made hia name known through the Eagliah-apeakiog world as the sensational murderer of a Chinamen, has been transferred form Lyttelton gaol to Sunnyside. For some time it has been understood that he has been under the delusion that people, whether Chinamen or no*, who' were no longer of u:e to the world, Bhould be put to death. He expressed the opjmion that there should be Igihal chambers in which allegedly useless folk oojjld quiefly end their mortal existence. It was only a few days ago that he arrived et Lyltelton from Wellington, He then appeared to I be very eelf contained, but it seems he soon gave evidenoo of the disposition which induced him to shoot this Chinaman. Mr Bishop, S.M., received not'ce from tho gaol surgeon that Terry was iasanp, and yrsterday Ihe Magistrate, with Drs. Upham and Nsv.ll, examined the piisoncr. The remit of the investigation was that Mr Bishop issued a warrant for Terry’s removal (o Sunnyside hospital for mental disease?.
