Rumours having bton circulated that Government did not in’end tn immediately oompleto the Ngabuere B'ackball railway, tho secretary of tbo Railway League is in communication with the p.emier on the subject. The Premier replied that when at Blackball early in the present year he had made a statement regarding tbc completion of the work, and that must bo taken as against rumors. The statement referred to was that as soon as the Paparoa Coal Company was prepared to deliver coal at- the Blackball terminus tho Government line would be ready to convey it away. Mr Florence McCarthy has beon appointed secretary of the local committee of tho International Exhibition. The committee decidod to ask the Exhibition Executive Commissioners to provide free space for exhibits of timber and coal, on the ground that these are national industries. A model of the proposed harbor at Point Elizabeth is to be made and exhibited.
