At the Harbor Board meeting reference was inade to a statement in the New Zealand Times and other Noithem papers with respeot to the silting of the channel at Harrington Point. It wis resolvedthat having been informed that the New Zealand Times and other Northern pipers had published articles containing statements damaging to the reputation of the Otigo harbor; the Board desires to state there is no foundation for tbe statements made; id these articles. The Board’s engineer repoits, that the conditions obtain’ng in the harbor were never so good as they are at present, and so f ir from the depth of water being lessened, it has been malerially ino’-ew'n g, and tho work at present proceeding near tho Heads promises in the near future to g'vo a channel which in depth, width and general direction cannot b 8 surpassed.
