The Daily OhionioleV Rome oorrespondent reports that Don Jaime and Don Carlos are receiving evidence, and protested to the Pope against King Alfonso's alliance with the prinoess of a Protestant house.

The Pope replied, tbat bis assent had been conditionally giver, (possibly upon the bride’s spontaneous adjuration of Protestantism, which step was a private affair of oonsoienoe. Beyond this the Vatican did not intend to intervene.
