The Police have lodged a notioo of appeal agsinat tho Magistrate's decision in the oasa against the Timaru Brewery Co, whioh was recently dismissed, the oharge being in regard to a ten gallon keg of beer, whioh the prosecution all'ged was not I labelled as required by tho licensing law.
Napier, last night. The Tyser Lino steamer s.s. Indralama arrived at London on the 12th inst from New Zealand.
Wellington, last night. Mr Sydney Johnston, of Takapau, Hawke’s Bay, has lent his house to His Exoellonoy the Governor until the beginning of the Parliamentary session. Their Exoelionoics will take up their residence there early in March.
Duuedin, last night. At tho annual meeting of the Woitport Coal Coy tho manager, Mr G. Joaobim, mentioned that during tho year £182,380 wa3 paid away in wages, £99,478 to tho Government for hautago royalty, rates and taxes, £96,931 for freights to lioal oarriers, and £IB,OOO for stores. Messrs Keith Ramsay and J. R. Sinola'r were re> elooted directors. Very heavy rain fe : l this morning, and the weather is now Bomewhat cold. Prospects for the farmers are not too bright.
