Messrs Macdonald end Henderson wcie appointed Whips. Petitions have been lodged against tbe return of Viscount Oastiereagh for Maidstone, G. L Williamson for Worcester. Mr J. Wason, an ex-member of tbe New Zealand Parliament, has been re-elected for Orkney. The Daily Ohroniole states that the Government will send a Royal Commission to investigate ihe Chinese question and report on the Transvaal Constitution. Mr Steyn, writing to Mr Stead, states that the Boers expeot the Liberal Government to give complete .responsible government, not on the. basis of one vote one value, but to place tbe Dutoh and English languages on an equality, and to fulfil all obligations of the Vereeninging Convention. Then they hope they will leave the country severely alone. The Liberals must also redeem their promise to take tbe Ohinese out of the colony. It would not be fair to shelter tbemßelves behind a sooalled local Legislature.
