TIMBER ROYALTIES.

NOT PAYABLE 10 LOCAL BODIES (Per Presn Ansoclatlon.) Blenheim, last night. The Polorus Road Board has been informed that tho Receiver of Land Revenue has boon notified by the Audit Department that the halves of royalties received upon timber cut in State forests is not payable to local bodies under the Timber and Flax Royalties Act of 1905. As all sawmill lioenses in this district are in State forests, tbo royalties will bo practically nil if tbo Audit Department is correct. Tbo Board expected JMBO from this source, and is much disappointed. It has communicated with Mr Mills, who has wired that the Cabinet has been unable to discuss the matter in the absenoe of Sir Joseph Ward.
