CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER THROWN OUT.

William James Southgate, captain of the Kapaoui, which sank after a collision in Auckland harbor, six lives being lost, was indicted before the Supreme Court for manslaughter. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty, accused being diecharged. The jury reoommended that coaßtal Bteamers should be more efficiently manned; that the Marine Department decide as to which harbors the narrow channel regulations should apply.
