WIFE DESERTERS.
AN UNMITIGATED SCOUNDREL .(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Herbert Joseph Road, a building sab* oontrao'.or, was charged to day with deserting his wife. It appears that his wife had been ill, and aooused got her to go to Sydney for a trip. Meanwhile ho took up with a young woman, putting himself off as a single man. On his wife’s return ihe mot aooused in tho street with this Pomaa. The same eveniog defendant lisappeared, and was arrested at Masteron, where he Was liviog with the woman n her husband. In pasting sentence Dr IdoArthur said ; “ Yon are nothing less hen an unmitigated sooundrel,’' and gave urn the full term of six months.
Read is a man of 29 years with four hildren.
Albert John Everett, who was about to lave the colony, and leave his yonng wife ithout support, was also sentence! to s : x lonths.
