BAKERS’ CONFERENCE.

Wanganui, last night. Tho Bakers’ Conference concluded to-

day. The Association confirmed (ho principle of a Puro Food Bill to ensure special inspection of bread, and to prevent its beiog kept in stores not under proper Banitary conditions, A resolution was carried affirming the opinion of tbe conference that all bakers and sellers of bread should be licensed. The Finance Committee reoommended, and tbe conference adopted a resolution that the annual subscription of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin should bo J6lO 10?, and all other unions £3 3», but that the committee ask them to pay £5 5s if possiblo in order to strengthen the funds of the association, and ao obviate the necfs?ity of soliciting donations and making levio. On the motion of Mr White (Dunedin) it was resolved 11 That the various master bakers’ unions in New Zealand endeavor to arrange for the technical schools in their districts to place tbe teaching of breadmaking on their syllabus, and that the association assist the schools in obtaining competent teaohers.” In regard to the weight of broad it was resolved that the conference considers that in addition to twist and roll, barraoouta and French (and any bread with any shortening in it) should bo regarded as fancy bread.
