A WEST COAST WANT.

(Per Press Associates-) Greymaulb, last night. A large meeting was hold here to urge upon Government tho desirability of making a harbor at Point Elizabeth. After the matter was thoroughly gone into, tho following resolution was passed : 11 Seeing that the present shipping potts of tbe West Coast appear to have reached their maximum development, and are quito inadequate to eope with ocean-going steamers, to tbe g r eat detriment of the Coast and the colony et la'ge, and in order to fully develop tho oxport trade of tho J State coal mine at Runanga, the vast coal areas on the Paparoa ranges, timber, and other products, this public meeting, r< presenting the unanimous and hearty opinion of the people of Greymoutb, respectfully urges on Government the great desirability of having the neccstary surveys made and expert opinion obtained (by tbo British Admiralty if possible) as to tho coat, efficiency, and utility for naval and othrr purposes of a harbor at Poicit El zabeth as suggested by the Right Hon. the Premier on his recent visit to the West Coast; that a copy of tho foregoing be forwarded to the Premier and Minister of Ma:iae.”
