.(Per Press Association.) Wellington, yesterday.. The body of a msn has beon found near Terawhiti. The remains are much decomposed, aud are unlikely to be identified. It is probably the body of a seaman lost from a passing vessel. Mr W. Gray, Seoretary to tho General Postal Department, who accompanies Sir Joseph Ward to the Postal Conference at Rome, has been presented by the Wellington Bowling Club with a gold sovereign case. Mr Gray was one of the first prosi dents of the club, and has been most active and energetic in the interests of bowling, not ODly locally, but for tho oolony.
Wairoa, yoiterday. W. J. Viokers’ auction rooms, North Clyde, were burned to the ground early this morning. The stock was insured for £IOO in the Manchester office. Ic was a two-atorey building, and war owned by P. Crarer, being insured for £l2O in the United. Vickrrs and Crarer are heavy losers.
Masterton, yesterday. There has been an abnormal rainfall during the past two days. . At 9 o’olock this morning 3.14 inches for the provious 48 hours had been registered.
Oamaru, yesterday. An old identity named Peter Cockburn, aged about 60, dropped dead outside his boarding-house early this morning. He was a bak&r by trade, and had been ailing for a long time. Heart failure and dropsy were the eause of death. No inquest will be held.

Wise, licensee of the Queen’s hotel, the largest in town, has leasod tbo premises to a looal firm of confectioners and caterers as from July Ist next, when prohibition comes into foroe. The new proprietors will use tbe house as a first-class aooommoiation house and bar for the purpose of their busintsj. Dunediri, yesterday. Tbe body of David HendorsoD, who fell off the Morning Light dredge at Cromwell, wbb recovered on Saturday. Tho hearing of tbe seamen’s dispute, which, has now been before the Arbitration Court for 13 days, was continued this morning. Mr . Soott, repre=enting tbe ~Wo et port Coal Company, aDd Mr Keith Ramsay addreesed the Court, maioly in reply to remarks by Mr Belcher on tho question of preference to unionists. Mr Beloher followed, summing up on behalf of tbe Soemen’s Union. During the sitting tbe President of tbo Court remarked tbat tbe experience of the Court showed there was a strong and growing tendonoy to fall jn with tho award of the Conit, Auckland yesterday. Mr G. T. Wilkinson, Government Native agent, bad tea at OtoiobaDga at 5.30 on Sunday, and seemed in : good health. A few hours liter be was found dead in the railway slation. There wtre no signs ol violenoe. A medical examination will be made to ascertain the cause of death.
