Tho annual general meeting of the Gisborne Gas Company, Limited, was held at | tho works last night. There were present: Captain T. Ohcisp (chairman), Messrs G. Matthewson, J. T. Evans, H, J. Bushnoll, ' A. Cuthbert, P. McLoughlin, E. J. Chr'sy, D. S. Jamison, W. B. Common, and Captain Kennedy. The adoption of tho balanoe sheet (already published in this paper) was moved by the Chairman, and seconded by Mr A. Cuthbert

IOOd feet. This is tho fifth roduotion in prioe during the past six years, and with the increased consumption it is expected a still further reduotion will be made next year. A balance of £2778, including profit on sale of shares, was carried forward to the reserve fund, and the usual dividend of 10 per cent, was declared. The consumption of gas tho first year of the Company’s operations was 422,700 feet. It has now increased to over i 14,000,000 feet, last year’s inorease alone beiDg over 20 per cen l . Five years ago ga3 was 10j lOdper thousmdfeei; to day it is at 7s 6d per thousand. Proposed by Mr Jamison, seconded by Captain Kennedy and carried, that the retiring directors, Messrs Bushnoll, Matthewson and Cbrisp, be re-elected.

The result of the Southern bowling championship meeting is that for the fourth time in succession the championship goes to Wellington, and for the third time in succession it goes to a Newtown club team skipped by G. Prince. On the other occasion, four years ago, the winners were a Wellington team of players skipped by Brackenridge. Newtown now holds the Northern Bowling Association’s banner and shield as the result of the championship meeting held there a few weeks ago, and the championship of the South Island.
