Shoitly before 1 o’clock this morning tho shop ot J. Meikle, butcher, Thames street, was discovered to be on fivo. The fire made rapid progress, and in a short timo the inside was gutted, though the fire was subdued by the brigade in a few minutes. A stone dividing wall prevented the fire extending next door. Inverougill, last night. The dead body of a man named Davidson, employed ns a farm-hßnd, who disappeared six weeks age, was found in a but ut Feradale. Deceased has relatives in Car-t rbury, whence he came two years ago. He had been in financial difficulty. There is no suspicion of foul play.
