HANDICAP PAIRS. Considerable interest was manifested at the Turanganui Bowling Club’s; greens on Saturday in the third mateh of the competition for the Handicap Pairs, the result of which'was :-r V; * . Edwards Burke Hepburn (skip) 21 Humphreys (ekip)2o Burke and Humphreys gave their-op-ponents a start of 5 points, and the letter, putting up 1 on the Ist head, had a lead of 6. On the 2nd and 3rd beads Burke and Humphreys pnt up 3, and a 2 on the sth head, Edwards and Hepburn securing 1 on the 4th head, the score on the sth head standing—Edwards and Hepburn 7, Burke and Humphreys 5. The former pair then put in some good scoring, obtaining 9 on the 5 following heads, being 16 to 5 on the 10th bead. Their opponents secured a couple of 2’s, which was to with a 4. Burke and Humphreys then put up a 4, the reply being 1, and on the 15th head the score was—Edwards and Hepburn 21, Burke and Humphreys IS; The latter pair, patting up a 2 on the next head, commenced to overhaul ;their opponents, and'obtaining four singles in succession, the score on tho 20th head was thus—Edwards and Hepburn 21, Burkq and Humphreys 19. Requiring,. 2. to tie, Burke and Humphreys obtained a 1 (on the last head, Edwards and Hepburn thus winning by the narrow margin of 1 point.
