CAPTAIN SOUTHGATE CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER.

(Per Press Aseocdation.) Auobland, last night. inquest on the reoovered bodies of the viotims of the Kapauui disaster, which occurred in the harbor off North Head on the night of December 23rd, concluded to-day. The jury brought in a verdict that the death of Clarke was due to crushing, while that of Heavey and Fietoher was due to drowning, and that the deaths of all three were occasioned by the improper navigation of Jame 3 Southgate, then captain of tbe Kapanui. Captain Smibgale was then arrested on a charge of manslaughter, and was taken before a Justice of the Peace, and released on bail, to appear before the Polioe Court to-morrow morning.
