(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. At a meeting of the Harbor Board yesterday the award in the case of Tuck v. the Board was referred to the Works and Tariff committee, with power to pay the amount awarded by the arbitrator (£1891), and with in structions to report further on the whole matter. Hamilton, last night. Mr Richard Holder, settlor, discovered in a small limestone cavern near the Waihemo caves, a well preserved skeleton of a moa. The bones are slightly coated with carbonate of lime. Feildinfj, last night. Entries for the Peilding show on February 7 are 400 in excess of last year. Competitions average 27 for each event. There will bo 311 pens of sheep. There are record entries of horses and pigs.
Wellington, last night. An elderly man named Robert Gray M athieson died suddenly this morning. The annual report of the Gas Company states that there has been a considerable increase in the consumption of gas. The reserve fund has been increased to £25,000. The net price of gas is now os 5d per thousand feet. A dividend of 5 per cent was paid on July last, and the directors recommend a similar dividend for the past half year. Dunedin, last n’ght. The fifth and sixth rounds of the rink championship were completed this morning. In section A, Qresn Island, with six wins, and in section C, North End and Invercargill, also with six each, secure sectional prizes
