DESPERATE OLD MAN.
FIRES THRICE AT POLICE MAGISTRATE. THEN COMMITS SUICIDE. By telegraph. Press Ass’n, Copyright Received 12.55 p.m., Jan, 24. Sydnoy, Jan. 23. An old man named Shannon, who had been deprived of an old-age pension because he was found not to have been sufficiently long in the Slate, fired three shots at Mr Boland, tho Police Magistrate at Hillston, wounding him twice, but not seriously. Shannon then blew his own brains out.
