The insurances on the Tokatea hotel, burned yesterday morning, are : Hotel and outbuildings £675, furniture and stock £125 in the Norwich Union. Wairoa, yesterday. At the inquest into the Opoutama fatality a verdict was returned that, Frank Little was drowned after a fall from a horse on Mahia beaoh. The jury commended Webber and Allen for their promptitude in going to his assistance. Hastings, last night, Mr Donald Henderson, of Mataura, has been selected,out of 121 applicants for the position of manager of the Jones Engineering Works. Oamaru, last night. , Word was received in town pr vately of the drowning last night i Mataura of a young man named Mat thew Galt, for some time employed b Messrs Eeid and Gray here, and after wards at Enfield. Young Galt re cently left to join his brother, of D and J. Galt, Mataura. -»No particulars are available of the accident.
