“The Windsor” Xmas issue, a copy of which has been received from Messrs Ward, Lock and Co., London, is a triumph of magazine enterprise. The beautiful art section has twentyfour excellent reproductions of the pictures of W. Dendy Sadler. Anthony Hope commences a new serial, a story in the “ Prisoner of Zonda ” vein, entitled, “ Sophy of Kravonia,” illustrated by Fred. Pegram. A novel and pleasing feature is the reproduction in colors of the famous “ Vanity Fair cartoons.” Thirty of these admirable caricatures, with interesting and humorous anecdotes, appear in this number. Twelve illustrated stories by Kudyard Kipling, Eden Pliilpotts, Justus Miles FormaD, lan Maclaren, S. K. Crockett and others, with many attractive articles by Ellen Terry, Harry Furniss, etc. —in all, 210 pages of work by the best writers and the best artists. No better shilling’sworth of all round attractive literature is procurable. The Xmas “ Windsor ” commences a volume, a good opportunity for new subscribers.
