LAND BOARD.

The Laud Board met at Gisborne yesterday, there being present! —The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr E, 0, Gold-Smith) and Messrs Matthewson and H y de - . , . Alex. Halket wrote, ask’ng that he be granted a lease over reserve of 10 acres, Rakauroa.—Held over for further information. • P. McDermott wrote, asking that he be granted a lease over section 3, Wharokopae, for erecting an accommodation house. Forty six settlers and res'dents signed the petition, urging the necessity for granting an accommodation license. — Thirty-five acres recommended for accommodation bouse reserve and balanoe to be reserved.

The District Surveyor reported upon the fall from lagoon in section 14, Wil>* lows settlement, for drainage purposes.— Regrttied Mr Bates’requrst could not be complied with. Arthur Ford wrote, applying for lease over a municipal reserve at Patutahi, sec tions 81 to 86, area 1J aores. —Applicant offered a mhoellanecus lease at £2 10s a year. Alice Harding, selector of faction 22, block vii., Waimata survey district, applied lo have tenure ohanged to cash. Board willing to grant exempt’on from residence for a number of years, if that would meet the case.

Elizabeth J. Caldwell asked for ex'en sioa of time to re-build.—Three mouths extension granted. The Crown Lands Banger reported upon Mr H. N. Ljsnat’s application to be allowed to excbaDge Wbakaongaonga Nos, 2a and 2b freehold, for similar area on boundary of S.G. run No. 79a. —Becommended to favorable consideration of Minister of Lands, The Crown Lands Banger reported upon improvements on four sect'ons seleoted for cash.—lmprovements being satisfactory, E. J. B. Williams and 0. H. McLean were granted permission to acquire the freehold. Mr W. Woods,, lessee of section 14, block 1, Pouparae estate, wro'e asking the | Board to oompel private owners to keep outlet of drain opeD. —Beferred to looal body, Board having no power. The District Surveyor wrote stating Mr Thomson wished to lease the stock reserve at Hangaroa.—Government to be urged to put up the reserve as soon as possible for a t rtn of 14 years, at £5 a year.
