TRAGIC DEATH.
MAN PALLS INTO SURF AND IS DROWNED. Per Prnss Association. Wairoa, yesterday. I Information was received yesterday I that Prank Little, a shepherd at Ormond’s Mahia station, was drowned near Opoutama. I An inquest will be held to-day. I The District Coroner (Mr Barton) has been advised that Mr Little, head shepherd for Mr Ormond, was drowned on Saturday when returning from the Nuhakashow. Further information states | that Messrs H. Webber and T. Allou, telegraph linemen, who had been working aloDg the- line in the Mahanga district, were riding towards Mahia when they saw deceased, who was riding some distance ahead, suddenly fail from bis horse into the sarf. They galloped to his assistance, . and suooeeded in dragging him out of the sarf. Restorative measures proved nn- _ availing.
