(Per Press Association.) Timaru, last night. The Hon. W. Hall Jones spent today inspecting the holdings comprising the Rosewill settlement. Oamaru, last night. In tne Magistrate’s Court this morning Thomas Williams and William Meay, old age pensioners, pleaded guilty to drunkenness. Both had previous convictions, and (the Court ordered accused to forfeit three instalments of their pensions. Christchurch, last night. In the Magistrate’s Court this morning Matthew Livingstone pleaded guilty to keeping a common gaminghouse. Sentence was deferred. Matthew Barnett and Peter Grant, on ja similar charge, elected to be tried by'a jury. After hearing evidence, the Magistrate held there was a prima facie case established, and committed both accused, bail being allowed, each in £IOO and one surety of £IOO.
