A COLONEL’S VENGEANCE. By telegraph, Press Ass’n, Copyright St. Petersburg, Jan. 8. To avenge the murder and mutilation of his drageocs at Riga, Colonel Meydell summoned starving men and women, besieged at Provodnik factory, to surrender the murderers or be bombarded. The ultimatum was declined. A bombardment followed, and killed one hundred. Others were killed by volleys when trying to escape. Forty men imprisoned await hanging unless they surrender the murderers. A fourth depot of bomba and dynamite has been discovered at St, Petersburg. German contributors to the relief of Jews at Odessa have been warned that a quarter of the money is being used to arm tbe Social Revolutionary Association and for the manufacture of bombs.
