A FIENDISH DEED.
EXPLOSIVE THROWN INTO POLICE OFFICER’S HOUSE.
ALLEGED TO BE GAMBLERS’ VENGEANCE.

A sensational bomb-throwing case occurred at the residence of DetectiveSergeant O’Donnell, A stone bottle charged with a powerful explosive was thrown into the sleeping room, breaking the glass. It roused O’Donnell, who fired a shot at a disappearing man. The explosion partially wrecked and set fire to the room. The fire was extinguished without serious damage. Mrs O’Donnell and five children were in the house, but none were injured. , O'Donnell attributes the deed to some betting poople, in prosoouting whom he recently took an active part. He alleges that the house had been shadowed, and that several of those assisting him bad been assaulted and had their windows broken.
