CROWD REOEIVE A SCARE. A couple of largo orackor cannons woro fired close to tho policemen, and those not directly in tho know mado a rush to orerpe, thinking revolvers had boon brought into action. Howovor, tho gaps ffi-orr quickly filled up. Packets of oraokora wore thou thrown into tho thick of tbo crowd, tho policomon's helmets noting as targets for tho throwers. BOMBARDMENT CONTINUES Tho bombatdmoot of the windows with bottles aud stones had all along aontinuod, and by this time >* lo °My sound pieoo of glass loft in front was tbo fanlight. Ono of tbo pinos was nearly intact, a stone only having fouud its way through it For about a quarter of an hour all was quiet, and theu a loud shout aud a orash proclaimed thnt a bottle had smashed this last pane. It was then afior twelve o'olrok, and tho affray bad lasted upwards of an hour. During tho whole of that time the street was a seono of wild dis order, and tbo police woro powerless.
